Why are energy-efficient buildings important?
Around 17% (87 Gigatons) of the UK’s carbon emissions come from our buildings.
The overwhelming majority of these emissions result from burning fossil fuels for heating. The government’s Heat and Buildings Strategy sets out the immediate and long-term actions required to reduce emissions from buildings to near zero (0 to 2 Megatons) by 2050.
